The Altius Trust are seeking to appoint a professional, dynamic and flexible Cover Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate should be passionate about supporting young people in their learning, will enjoy engaging with our students and also demonstrate excellent behaviour for management skills and an ‘inclusive ethos’.

Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but is not essential as full training and support will be given. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a secondary education setting as a full teaching qualification is not a prerequisite. However, a good standard of literacy and numeracy is required with sound subject knowledge across all areas. This might be demonstrated through educational qualifications or previous professional experience.

The job involves covering whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. Work will be set but you will need to respond to questions, maintain good order and keep pupils on task, to ensure the highest possible standards of achievement and personal development.   Cover Supervisors undertake a range of tasks to assist the smooth running of the school, such as helping with the management/preparation of resources and working with smaller groups of students outside of lessons.

The Altius Trust is a multi-academy educational trust with an ongoing commitment to opening and running academies with a high level of achievement in the Manchester area. Our Trust Partners include some of the most successful and innovative companies in the UK, all of whom have a strong commitment to Manchester. Their involvement in the Trust underlines their commitment to developing the young people of the city, and their recognition that to recruit excellent leaders from local families they have to be committed to their development prior to them becoming employees.

Our flagship school, Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe, was winner of Secondary School of the Year (2015-16) and Healthy Living Award (2016-17) at the MEN Schools Awards, as well as being shortlisted for a national TES award in the category of ‘Community Collaboration’ for our mentoring project with Lloyds Banking Group. MEA was described in a glowing 2015 Ofsted report as ‘A vibrant community that treats you like family (and) a good school that has improved students’ achievement significantly year on year’.

MEA Central opened to 210 Year 7 students in September 2017 and will grow year on year until we are full in 2022. We are defined by our mission, ‘A Fantastic Future for All', we care about helping students to be their best and know the only way to do this is through academic achievement, character development and strong pastoral support.

As a Trust, we are committed to recruiting talented and passionate staff who are central to all of our achievements and are the driving force behind our dedication to provide a “Fantastic Future for All”.  Ofsted stated, “Staff are extremely positive about all aspects of the school and are making a substantial difference to the lives of the young people.”

The induction of new colleagues and their continual professional development are strengths of the Trust, we provide high quality coaching for all of our staff.

Our vision of a fantastic future for all our students is easy to understand but complex to achieve as the future evolves so rapidly around us. Our students have to adapt in order to build themselves a secure and resilient future.   Our vision underpins all we do, and our starting point is excellent academic results.

Please find attached the Job Description and further information is available below about our Trust, MEA and MEA Central. Please apply through TES. Please note we do not accept CVs and references will be applied for at the shortlisting stage.

Closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Thursday 15 November 2018 and interviews will take place as soon as possible thereafter.

We are an equal opportunities employer.
