COVER SUPERVISOR

1092.5 hours per annum, worked over 39 weeks (term time)

Salary Range: £12,566 to £13,602 per annum

Imagine what’s possible…

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated member of staff to join the College’s dedicated team of Cover Supervisors.  The role has arisen as a result of the College’s ongoing success, a rise in student numbers and the partial re-deployment of one member of the team.  The successful applicant will provide continuity of student learning and progression through the administration of cover and the supervision of whole classes during the short-term absences of teachers.  Additionally, when not providing cover, they will support the wider College in supporting student learning.  Experience in a similar role would be an advantage.

You will have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour, good communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a team.

We, at Newton Abbot College (“Good” OFSTED May 2019) have exceptional expectations of our students and staff and we welcome applicants who share our commitment to place student learning at the centre of everything we do.  Our induction programme is excellent and all staff are involved in an innovative CPD programme.

Sounds exciting?  Then get in touch.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff to share this commitment.  If successful, you will undergo Disclosure and Barring Service and employment checks.

Newton Abbot College is a mixed 11 –19 Academy with over 1000 students on roll with a large and diverse Sixth Form. Our recent full section 5 Ofsted inspection in April 2019 described us as, "a  harmonious school where pupils are thriving" and went on to note that, "pupils are respectful of each other and adults.  Their behaviour is consistently of a high standard."

The College has undergone rapid change including significant improvement to examination results at Key Stages 4 and 5; levels of progress over the last few years have been outstanding and are predicted to improve further over the coming years. We are determined to build on our successes and, as a College with Academy status, aspire to be outstanding in all we do. We offer a real challenge and excellent professional opportunities to colleagues who are keen to contribute their drive, creativity and high expectations to our go-ahead College’s future.

Newton Abbot College was originally established in 1904 as the Newton Abbot town Grammar School, becoming Knowles Hill School in 1975 with the introduction of the comprehensive system.  In 2008, the school became Newton Abbot College.  Along with a new identity and uniform came a strong ethos of the highest expectations for student learning and progress.  In 2011 we gained Academy status.  Today, the College offers 11-19 year old students a challenging curriculum in a calm, purposeful, well-ordered community.

We are known for our high standards of teaching and our focus on student achievement.  At the heart of everything we do is the individual who learns here. Our focus is on giving them a complete learning experience so that they leave us as happy, confident, knowledgeable young people.  For that to happen, our teachers must stimulate and challenge them in the classroom and beyond.  We treat all our students as individuals.  We set targets and track progress so that no student can become invisible.  We are recognised leaders in this practice.  We endeavour to give our students the skills they need to become independent lifelong learners.
