Retford Oaks Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to act as a Cover Supervisor. You will be required to supervise prepared lessons in the absence of a class teacher, ensuring that in doing so the students' learning and development is continued and maintained. 

As a Cover Supervisor you will work under the guidance of teaching staff and with an agreed system of supervision, to implement work programmes with individual and groups in and out of the classroom. This role includes supervision of whole classes during short term absence of teachers.

This position is an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to pursue a career in education and may suit a qualified teacher looking to step down from a full teaching role, a graduate looking to gain experience before teacher training or an adult with experience of working with young people.


You will need to be:    

  • Reliable and punctual    
  • Experienced in working with young people, especially ages 11-19    
  • Adaptable, flexible, confident and calm under pressure    
  • Confident with behaviour management skills    
  • Well organised    
  • Committed to professional development    
  • Committed to education and teaching
