We are looking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Physical Education to lead the Department in their journey toward outstanding. We are a flourishing and expanding school with a progress 8 scores of +0.57 which places us in the top percentage of schools in the country. We are above national average on all performance measures. You will lead a forward thinking department to become ‘outstanding’ through the ability to deliver a strategic vision and inspirational leadership.

We are looking to appoint a colleague who has a proven track record of raising standards in Physical Education and who can demonstrate inspirational teaching and a passion for delivering lessons which are motivational, challenging and engaging.  You will need to demonstrate the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to work as part of a team which is determined to achieve ‘outstanding’.  In return you will work in an exceptional and supportive environment that will further develop your professional skills and ambitions.

This role is ideal for an ambitious professional who has held responsibility for an area of leadership in P.E. such as responsibility for Key Stage 3 or 4 or has taken the lead on a Departmental / Whole School initiative and feels ready to lead their own department.  This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious colleague to join a thriving department.

Golborne High School, a co-educational secondary school of around 1,200 pupils, is located near to Wigan, Greater Manchester. Providing places for pupils aged 11-16, Golborne High is a foundation cooperative trust school, forming a key part of the GoalCo Trust, a network of schools and colleges situated in and around Wigan.

The GoalCo cooperative was established in 2010, but the secondary school itself first opened its doors in 1954.
