Job description

You will lead the maths department at Marlborough Girls’ College, a top performing girls’ secondary school situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. As Curriculum Leader for their Mathematics Faculty you will further develop this department and teach have a strong commitment to inclusivity, to the ongoing development of ideal teaching strategies and to restorative relationships.

You will enjoy working in a modern state secondary school that caters for girls from Year 9 - Year 13 (Age 13 - 18). The school’s catchment area is wide with a roll of approximately 1000 young women. As a teacher at Marlborough Girls’ College you will be living in Blenheim, a beautiful, boutique town in the Marlborough Region of the upper South Island. In this region you will enjoy many sunshine hours, an abundance of outdoor activities, high class wineries and picturesque scenery. The Marlborough Sounds are exquisite and Blenheim is only a short flight or drive from two main centres, Wellington and Christchurch, therefore opportunities for travel and exploration are great.

Through teaching and being involved in extra-curricular activities you will be a part of Marlborough Girls’ College’s mission, which is ‘To empower each young woman to engage in and succeed through a high quality education’. As the Curriculum Leader of Mathematics you will develop quality teaching and learning programmes that ensures student engagement. You will develop the school’s curriculum through your depth of knowledge in theory and practice application of the curriculum, learning and assessment. You will be also a strong leader and support your team to develop and maintain environments which enhance learning. Your faculty will recognise and cater to the learning needs of a diversity of students.
