Job overview

Minerva Learning Trust is a recently formed and expanding Sheffield based multi-academy Trust with a vision of providing outstanding education for all the pupils within our academies. The Trust is passionate that all pupils should see their time at school as happy and fulfilling, with their potential developed to the utmost. Ecclesfield School joined the Trust in December 2017 and, as a sponsored academy, is looking forward to developing this partnership and making rapid improvements for our pupils and community.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, committed and reflective practitioner as Curriculum Leader of Science from 01 September 2019. We are looking for a Science teacher who shares the vision and ethos of the school, who believes they can make a difference in the life of each and every student they teach and who can help drive our Science Department even further forward.

Applications are welcomed from colleagues with the drive and commitment to consistently pursue the highest standards of student outcomes and deliver sessions with an innovative, inspiring and challenging approach.

Candidates are encouraged to visit the school or have an informal discussion about the role with the Headteacher. Arrangements for this can be made by contacting Mrs Ashleigh Beal, Headteacher’s PA, at the school.

Closing Date is 9:00 am on the 19 March 2019 and interviews will take place on the 26 March 2019.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Further information is available by contacting Mrs Beal via e-mail: abeal@eccoschool.com

Headteacher – Richard Walkden

Located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Ecclesfield School is a larger-than-average secondary school, educating around 1,700 pupils aged 11-16 in a co-educational setting. Originally founded as a grammar school in 1931, the school converted to academy status in 2014.

Ecclesfield School has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation over the years, with a series of new buildings completed in the early 2000s.

Values and vision

Ecclesfield School is committed to providing an education that works for all students, regardless of academic ability or background. The secondary school seeks to achieve this by providing a deep and engaging curriculum, in which teachers maintain a close relationship with pupils and their families.

Ecclesfield has high expectations of its students. It strives to ensure that older students have a proper understanding of their options, in terms of work or further study, upon leaving school.

Chief Executive Officer – Bev Matthews

Minerva Learning Trust is a multi-academy trust of schools. We are committed to providing an outstanding education for pupils who are from a wide variety of backgrounds across the city of Sheffield.  Inclusion is very important to us. Founded In 2014, Minerva Learning Trust grew from an outstanding single-academy, and has since grown to include primary, secondary, sixth form and one, unique post-16 provision.
