What it’s about

Cambridge Assessment is Europe's largest educational assessment agency, responsible for delivering qualifications to more than 8 million learners across the globe.

Our assessments need mature data architecture to support end-to-end processes, and we are building the Data Architecture capability in our Architecture team. We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to play a major part in this work. 

The Data Analyst will be our expert on recording the data analysis for our complex application landscape to support continual data integration, data analytics and support the architecture team with all aspects of data analysis as part of project activities and Cambridge Assessment Data and Analytics Strategy initiatives.

What you’ll be doing

• Working as part of a team: Design and document data solutions that meet functional & non-functional requirements as part of Project Delivery

• Evaluation & analysis of requirements, help with development of functional specifications and test strategies. Support for users, developers and functional consultants during the project lifecycle.

• Collaborate with others to keep data models and data flows up to date and available for auditors and business.

• Support the architecture team to capture Risks, Issues, Assumptions and dependencies around data designs and work with stakeholders to mitigate.

 

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications

STEM degree or relevant industry experience.

 

Skills

Essential

• Demonstrate strong skills in problems solving methods and evidencing solutions

• In-depth knowledge of how to communicate and visualise data

• Strong data modelling skills – both relational and dimensional

• Knowledge of foundational information management disciplines, such as Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Architecture, and Data Integration.

• Strong skills in SQL, XML

• Understanding of how to work with data and share data in a responsible and secure way

• Excellent communication skills, ability to translate technical terminology to non-technical stakeholders

• Ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously to tight deadlines

Desirable

• Erwin or Sparx EA

• R, Python

• NoSQL/non-traditional database technologies

• AWS/Cloud computing

Experience

Essential

• Knowledge / experience of data modelling, creating a database schema from a logical or physical model

• Experience of relational database platforms

• Data warehouse design experience

• Experience of turning functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications

• Knowledge / experience of data life cycles, data governance, data privacy frameworks

• Experience of project life cycles – ability to work within an agile team or to work to a Waterfall or Prince II project plan

Desirable

• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, SAS, SSRS

• Experience with Big Data analytics platforms like Hadoop/HIVE and Cloud solutions for data analytics
