Gresham’s offers a rare opportunity where children can join us at our Nursery and Pre-Prep from the age of two and continue with their education at our Prep and Senior Schools to 18. At Gresham’s we recognise that every child has different strengths and talents and we pride ourselves on recruiting staff who can recognise, nurture and help pupils reach their true potential.

We are currently recruiting for a Day Matron to join one of our Senior School Boarding Houses. Working closely with the Housemaster/Housemistress, your main responsibilities will be the overall pastoral care of boarding and day pupils between the ages of 13 and 18. The ability to communicate effectively between pupils, parents and staff is essential to creating a happy home from home for our children.

The successful applicant will be well organised and energetic with a passion for working with young people. Previous experience in a similar role or background in a care role within a school, hospital or care home environment would be an advantage and applicants looking to job share would be considered. An awareness of Child Protection and Safeguarding is desirable, however full training will be provided. A driving licence, and preferably own transport, is essential.

About Gresham's School

Gresham’s is a co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 2-18. It is situated in the Georgian town of Holt in beautiful countryside, just three miles from the breathtaking North Norfolk coast.

The school was founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham who forged close ties with The Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. On his death, he left the school in their care and strong links with them and the City of London remain to this day.

The school enjoys a generous campus with excellent facilities including a state-of-the-art music building (Britten) with its own recording studio, indoor and outdoor performance spaces including a theatre (Auden), multi-surface sports pitches, tennis courts, swimming pool, sports hall and shooting range. The Dyson Building opened at Gresham’s in September 2021. Sir James Dyson, a former pupil at the school, enabled the innovative new centre for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education.

The school has an impressive list of Old Greshamians including the composer Benjamin Britten, the poet WH Auden, Oscar winning actress Olivia Colman and international rugby players Tom and Ben Youngs, to name but a few.
