MATHEMATICS TEACHER

Departmental Leadership Role (3 i/c in Department)

Outer London Pay Scale plus TLR up to £3,665

Required from September 2018

Woodcote High School has long been a top choice for parents in the Coulsdon & Purley area of South London and is heavily over-subscribed. Located in a pleasant suburban setting on the borders of Surrey, Sutton and Croydon, the school has a rural feel but is officially in the Outer London salary band.

Judged “good” by Ofsted in January 2015 in all areas and reaffirmed in March 2018, inspectors praised our students as “courteous, respectful and keen to talk about their achievements.”

GCSE results are way above average and A Level results are improving rapidly. Teachers rate Woodcote as an enjoyable place to work due to the “fabulous students and supportive colleagues”. This is a terrific opportunity for an innovative teacher to join our forward-looking and successful Maths Department and to help shape the future of the department whilst taking your first steps on the leadership ladder to support your future career ambitions.

This position, is a key role within the Maths department for continuing to develop A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Maths is the most popular A Level at Woodcote High School. This position is perfect to enhance your C.V. and support you onto higher level leadership both within the Mathematics Department and across the whole school. The Department is well resourced and committed to developing its vision whereby all students fulfil their potential.

If you have energy, ambition and a passion for your subject and perhaps emerging from a successful NQT year or returning to education after a period of childcare, then we would like to hear from you.  Applications are welcome from all applicants who feel that they are ready to progress to the next stage of leadership. Job share and part-time applications may also be considered.

Pre-application visits are welcomed and encouraged so please telephone the school or email l.allen@woodcotehigh.com if you would like to arrange an informal visit before you apply.

Closing date for applications: Early applications are welcome but no later than noon on Monday 21st May 2018.

We encourage early applications, and reserve the right to close this vacancy at any time should the right candidate be found.

About Woodcote High School

Since opening in 1957, Woodcote High School has constantly evolved and grown, whilst remaining at the forefront of educational developments in the area.

Exam results have for many years exceeded national and local averages, delivering a positive Progress 8 score. Other landmark achievements over recent years include significant building projects, the opening of a Sixth Form at the School, the opening of an international standard athletics facility (Track Coulsdon, in conjunction with South London Harriers and other funding partners) and the establishment of the Enhanced Learning Provisionfor mobility impaired students.

Woodcote is a busy community, with lots to offer our students. We encourage students to develop enquiring minds that in turn increases their enthusiasm for enrichment both in and out of the classroom. Those interested in music and performance deliver great seasonal productions, and benefit from a wide range of individual music tuition. Our world-class Track Coulsdon is at the heart of our great sport and PE facilities, and we have a full range of extra-curricular sport.

In the Sixth Form, in addition to the whole school enrichment programme, students have the opportunity to stand for student leadership positions, take part in charity events and lead assemblies for raising awareness on subjects they are passionate about. We also run a series of events where guest speakers are invited into school to speak to the student body.
