The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the inspection of schools in membership of the associations that make up the Independent Schools Council. We provide robust, objective inspections against the statutory requirements laid down by our regulator, the Department for Education which evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the education, care and welfare of children and young people in schools.
This new post offers a highly exciting opportunity to join a rapidly developing team at a senior level. Based in Barbican, ISI has approx. 35 employees, and contracts a pool of over 1000 carefully selected and trained inspectors to provide its services across the UK.
We are now looking to appoint a second Deputy Chief Inspector (DCI) who will work closely with the recently appointed DCI, reporting directly to the Chief Inspector (CI). Deputising for the CI, the DCIs will be jointly responsible for supporting inspectors in the delivery of inspections, providing guidance to colleagues on inspection matters and taking responsibility for quality control in specific areas of inspection delivery and report generation. In addition, the DCIs will be required to represent the CI at external meetings and speaking engagements as well as contribute to the development of the inspection framework, protocols, paperwork and practices. Detailed areas of responsibility will be agreed dependent on organisational priorities and individual strengths.
A strong knowledge, understanding and commitment to prioritising the safeguarding of children and young people is a fundamental requirement of this role.
