Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a creative and committed colleague to the post of Deputy DSL.

We are looking to appoint an individual with an extensive background in safeguarding young people to lead our safeguarding and wellbeing team, support students, and develop and evaluate effective strategies to promote wellbeing and successful educational outcomes.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal, you will lead a team of motivated professionals and work collaboratively with colleagues across the College to ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing is upheld for all of our students. 

We are looking for someone who will commit to our Long Road mission and will work with drive and determination to provide an exceptional student experience.

The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of current child protection policies, procedures and legislation and will have an in-depth knowledge of current KCSIE guidance.

Previous experience of supporting young people for whom there are safeguarding and/or welfare concerns is essential, as well as excellent organisational skills, a flexible approach to work and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging circumstances.

Conveniently located close to the M11 and A14, within easy reach of several areas of outstanding natural beauty and the Norfolk/Suffolk coast, the college is set next to the Biomedical Campus within its own attractive grounds in the beautiful and expanding Bio/Technical city of Cambridge. Long Road was judged by OFSTED to be ‘Good’ in all five categories, and we are now taking the next steps to become an Outstanding College.

This role is to start as soon as possible, working on a full time, term-time only basis.

Long Road is a thriving, successful post 16 Sixth Form College with 2,400 students on roll, in post-16 studies.
