INDEPENDENT CO-EDUCATIONAL BOARDING & DAY SCHOOL FOR 425 PUPILS

AGED 11 -18

DEPUTY HEAD (ACADEMIC)

REQUIRED FROM JANUARY 2020

(or as soon as possible thereafter)

Box Hill School is a co-educational community of 425 girls and boys aged 11 to 18, whose educational ideals and practice are designed to maximise the potential of each student in a holistic international environment. The school follows the philosophy of Kurt Hahn, founder of Round Square: while placing academic work at the heart of a school, Hahn stressed the importance of an all-round education as a preparation for life based on six key ideals.

The Governors, Staff and children of our school wish to appoint a Deputy Head (Academic) to work with the Headmaster to help shape the future success and development of the school.

We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic, well-qualified graduate with people skills and a good sense of humour to be the Deputy Head (Academic) with a specific remit to drive forward teaching and learning.  You will be responsible for the pursuit of excellence in the academic programmes in the school and the role gives you the opportunity to really make a difference. We expect the successful post holder to use this opportunity as a stepping stone for Headship.

We aim to appoint a colleague who will involve themselves whole-heartedly within our boarding community and who sees teaching as a way of life, not just a job.

This role would be for a January 2020 start. (Or as soon as possible after notice period)

Round one interviews will be held in the week commencing Monday 4 November 2019

Round two interviews will be held in the week commencing Monday 18 November 2019
