We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Boarding, in the first instance on a one year fixed-term contract from September 2019 to support the Head of Boarding in running our integral and vibrant boarding house. There is the possibility of accommodation with the role should this be required.

De Aston is a genuinely comprehensive school currently with close to 1000 learners, about 50 of those learners are boarders who come from a wide range of countries. Though they make up only a small proportion of the total school number they have a major influence on the school as a whole. Our boarders bring a multi-cultural dimension to our school and add an international flavour that is welcomed and celebrated by the school as a whole.

We are a school which enjoys an outstanding reputation based on academic success but with a strong emphasis on pastoral care. We are also a school that invests greatly in extra-curricular opportunities. We are also part of the Lincoln Teaching School Alliance through which we train and develop all aspects of teaching and support. De Aston has outstanding facilities in a pleasant environment situated on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Please contact Neil Huddlestone for further details and an application form or download an application pack from the school’s website.

Closing date: Friday 6th September 2019 at 1.00pm

Provisionally, interviews will be held week beginning 16th September 2019, however we reserve the right to interview suitable candidates immediately on receipt of application.

De Aston School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

De Aston is a forward thinking, successful and vibrant 11-18 school, with excellent facilities and a genuinely comprehensive intake. We are a rural school but take from a large catchment area. We are big enough to matter but small enough to care personally for every one of our community.

De Aston is a school with a total commitment to comprehensive education and has an outstanding academic and pastoral record. There is also a well-regarded Special Needs Department that has a genuine care for individual needs. We pride ourselves on the range of extra-curricular activities we offer in sports, the arts, sciences, debating, computing and beyond.  We regularly compete in national competitions and both our staff and students have been winners of many local awards and also shortlisted into the finals for some of the most prestigious national awards.

We are proud of our success at receiving Artsmark Gold and Career Mark Gold. This reflects the ‘gold standard’ we aspire to in all our endeavours but also reflects the incredible work of the staff and the talents and commitment of our learners.

De Aston is also a school with an excellent programme of professional support and career development opportunities. Our INSET is organised and delivered by locally and nationally recognised professionals.

We are one of the most successful comprehensive schools in Lincolnshire with a proud history going back over 150 years. We have tradition but we also have a drive to embrace evidence-informed research to improve even further. We are a growth mindset school and believe that our motto ‘Believe. Strive. Achieve.’ captures our philosophy and energy as we prepare young people to take the place in the world.
