Shaftesbury School is looking to recruit a student-focused Deputy Head of Boarding to join the team working at our international boarding house in Shaftesbury, Dorset. The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the boarding programme under the supervision of the Vice Principal/Head of Boarding, and you will work alongside the Senior House Parents to ensure a consistently high quality boarding provision. 

This residential role will involve working days and also include nights and weekends; this is essential to provide the opportunity to build solid relationships with the boarders, their parents and the boarding house staff. There will be time allocated for administration in order to ensure the systems and processes are maintained in accordance with the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools. Responsibilities include:

· Ensuring all boarding policies and procedures are maintained and up-to-date

· Providing a link between the school and boarding to ensure excellent pastoral and academic support to the boarders

· Leading trips, activities and excursions and contributing to the boarder’s extra-curricular programme

· Deputising for the Vice Principal/Head of Boarding on all matters of boarding management

Previous experience in boarding is essential and it is vital that the successful candidate has a passion for providing exceptional pastoral and academic support to students and is prepared to wholeheartedly embrace life in the boarding house. You will be expected to be a full member of the boarding community and to contribute to the family atmosphere in the boarding house. 

You will be required to live on-site for the betterment of your duties and a one bedroom, self-contained flat is available, inclusive of all utilities, as well as all meals in boarding during term time. There is a notional monthly rent charge for the accommodation. 

This role will suit someone with aspirations to move to Head/Director of Boarding in the future and a passion for working with international students in a boarding context is vital to this role.
