The Principal and his team have recognized this and now seek to offer such opportunities to a wider range of young people and adults as part of the developments that are taking place across all aspects of the College.

Cambian Lufton College is situated across several sites which include, Lufton Manor, Lufton Manor Farm and several community houses which together make up a 30 acre rural campus located on the outskirts of Yeovil, Somerset.  The College caters for young people and adults between the ages of 16 - 25 years that have additional learning needs and associated complex behaviours that may challenge.  The College prides itself on being able to support all young people, including some who haven’t previously had the opportunity to access a bespoke, meaningful education at a College that prepares them for adulthood in an individualised way.

The College is seeking to increase the provision of 52 week care placements that it offers students. We are committed to ensuring that as part of a waking day curriculum our students are learning and developing, increasing independence and life skills and building resilience, confidence and self-regulation that will support their onward journey.

What we need from you?

Successful candidates for this management role will play a critical part in a larger supportive holistic team approach that sees care, education and therapeutic services working together to meet the needs of each student.  Through effective communication and multi-disciplinary working each team seeks to inform each-others practice to deliver specialist residential educational services to those with additional and complex needs including, Autism and Asperger’s.  This is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively in a supportive environment with trained, qualified professionals and to join an expanding, successful educational organisation.

As such, we are looking for an experienced, positive and committed Deputy Head of Care that will work under the guidance of the Head of Care (Registered Manager) and be able to lead and support their allocated staff teams through a period of positive change. A person centred approach and high levels of engagement are required within the homes through staff passion and commitment to providing outstanding quality of care.  Successful candidates will receive excellent professional development, and the opportunity for ongoing career progression.

As a service, Cambian Lufton College is currently working towards reshaping the way in which it operates, and as such we have a robust Post Inspection Action Plan in place to enable all staff to play a critical role in the future success of this developing service.

Although it would be advantageous, you do not need extensive experience of working at a Deputy Head of Care level to be successful with your application, as Cambian Lufton College provides a full initial induction, on-going training program and the expectation that you will be enrolled on the QCF 3 in adult care with the QCF 5 being advantageous.

About Cambian Lufton College

Based at 3 sites the college offers residential and day courses to students aged 16 to 25. All students develop individual learning plans and personal tutors help them to monitor their own progress. There are opportunities to work towards National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).

The college sites are:

Dilston in Northumberland
Lufton in Somerset
Pengwern in Denbighshire
Liverpool

Mencap National College Lufton was established in 1969 and is a residential further education college offering tailor-made courses to prepare students for the next stage in their lives. Our students are aged 16-25 and come from all over the country. There are currently 111 students of which 106 are residents and five day students.

The college is based over two sites in a 70-acre estate on the rural outskirts of Yeovil, Somerset.

A small farm is home to many animals including calves, cockatiels, chickens, chinchilla, chipmunks, donkeys, finches, goats, geese, guinea pigs, guinea fowl, horses, rabbits, sheep, mice, pigs, pheasant and ducks.

The estate has well-equipped facilities such as a vehicle valeting bay, green houses, gardens, café, training kitchen, refectory, workshops for art, pottery and woodwork, IT suite, lakeside facilities, sports hall and other leisure services.
