Job overview

Are you someone who can help shape our future? Do you believe in educating every child and ensuring all of their needs are met? Do you hold the belief that every child can achieve? If so, you may be the person for this role.

We are looking for a highly-effective, enthusiastic and professional leader to assist the Head of Centre in leading our newly-formed collaborative centre, due to open in September 2020.

The centre is a collaborative provision between Outwood Academies Acklam, Bishopsgarth, Bydales, Normanby, Ormesby, Redcar and Riverside. The centre will be located on Burns Road, Eston in a modern building with excellent facilities.

Outwood Alternative Provision Eston is an innovative alternative provision centre, principally for students from Outwood Academies in the Northern Region who need additional behavioural, social, emotional or mental health support. In line with our absolute commitment to inclusion in its widest sense, this is an alternative provision for vulnerable students who display challenging behaviours and are often at risk of high levels of fixed-period exclusions or permanent exclusion.

Operating much smaller classes than our mainstream academies, this alternative provision focuses on personal development and the health and well being of students, whilst not losing academic rigour. We will focus on ensuring that all students can achieve well and are able to move to their next stage with confidence, be it education, employment or training.

We are looking for an inspirational, proactive and experienced Deputy Head of Centre for our new Alternative Provision.  As the centre’s SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead, the Deputy Head of Centre will be a strong, principled leader with experience of working with, and maximising outcomes for students with SEMH needs and those with behavioural difficulties.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is committed to providing  a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all students as such we are keen to recruit a dedicated and ambitious leader who will add value to our trust by raising standards and transforming lives.

Informal discussions with Mark Hassack, Executive Principal (Northern Region) are welcomed. Please contact Jo Lake, Executive Officer by email j.lake@outwood.com, to arrange this.

The Outwood Grange Family of Schools offers:

• The opportunity to work and progress across the Family of Schools.

• A further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through the Outwood Institute of Education (formerly the teaching school).
