We are looking for a Deputy Head of English and Drama to join our talented and supportive team at Marling School. We are a thriving Multi-Academy Trust with a strong collective identity working together to generate and celebrate success within our communities. We wish to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Deputy Head of English and Drama who will have the desire to support the Head of Department as delegated in English to take the department on to even greater success.

The successful candidate will be able to:

• Teach, according to their educational needs pupils assigned to him/her in their allocated classes and to carry out the duties as specified in the Job Description of a Subject Teacher. 

• Plan and supervise the work of the department in a named key stage or subject area as directed by the Head of Department.

• Make regular use of student progress data with members of the department, to ensure that individual students are monitored and supported in maximising their academic potential.

• Be responsible for constructing and reviewing delegated schemes of work that meets the needs of all learners.

• Explore and further cross-curricular work with other subject departments.

• Encourage staff and students to develop their interest and skills in the subject through extra curricular events and enrichment opportunities.

• Monitor and develop the use of ICT within the department, both for teaching and administration.

• Monitor the setting of regular and appropriate homework throughout a particular key stage or 

subject as directed by the Head of Department.

• Assist the Head of Department to oversee student discipline issues within the department.
