Job overview

We are seeking a Deputy Head of Faculty to assist the interim Head of Faculty in leading this newly established team. This is initially a temporary opportunity, with the potential to become permanent when the Faculty is fully established. The ideal candidate will collaborate with team members to design and implement an inspiring curriculum for our IT and Digital Data courses. This role involves ensuring high standards of quality across all curriculum offerings.

The Faculty offers a diverse range of courses, including full-time education for students at Level 2 and Level 3, apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships, digital bootcamps, and higher education programmes. Our key programmes for 16 to 19-year-olds include traditional BTEC courses as well as the new Digital T Level and T Level Transition courses. Additionally, the Faculty boasts a robust selection of apprenticeships and an expanding range of adult and higher education options in Computing, eSports, Data Analysis, and short-course boot camps. Our higher education qualifications are validated by the University of Plymouth and the University of Exeter.

Key requirements of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Experience of managing people
  • Proven experience of managing curriculum change
  • Demonstrable success in previous roles
  • Detailed knowledge of quality processes in an education setting
  • Up-to-date knowledge of exam board specifications
  • Experience of observing lessons and staff performance management


Our IT Digital and Data faculty is based in the heart of the city centre, just a few minutes’ walk from Exeter Central Station. We also have classrooms and specialist facilities in the recently opened Digital and Data Centre, our brand-new building offering high-quality, cutting-edge provision to support our students. This building boasts a fully equipped IT lab for our computer technicians as well as a sector leading esports venue, used by our competition winning students. In addition, it contains specialist Apple teaching facilities and high end HE delivery spaces including a 140+ seat lecture theatre. We welcome applications from candidates who can support our continued vision of collaboration across courses and with industry partners.  

Successful applicants should have experience of working with learners from different educational backgrounds and must be committed to outstanding teaching and learning. Applicants should demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of exam board specifications and should be highly skilled educators who are able to demonstrate strong knowledge in relevant fields. Knowledge and experience of tutoring is essential as well as a commitment to teamwork to join this high performing team.
