Job overview

The British Primary School of Wilanow (BSW) is seeking to appoint an inspiring Deputy Head of Primary to join a forward-thinking, dynamic team in Warsaw's fastest growing international school. This role is for an August 2018 start.

The School

The British Primary School of Wilanow offers a strong British education, founded in the National Curriculum for England and enhanced to meet the requirements of the Polish Education Ministry. It is located in the upscale Warsaw suburb of Wilanow, where old meets new and city meets country. The historical Royal Wilanow overlooks new, stylish cafes and shops as well as leafy green fields and woods.

The Primary School opened in Autumn 2014, in purpose-built accommodation on a charming greenfield site, with a handful of Nursery-age children. Numbers for 17-18 have grown to around 160 and there are waiting lists in most yeargroups. It is predicted that the school will reach 200 pupils by September 2018.

Construction will be completed on an extension to the Primary School for August 2018 and work begins shortly on an extensive sports field development.

We are strongly committed to the highest standards of education and have already hosted an Advisory Visit from the ISI Consultancy. BSW is also a Candidate Member of COBIS, and will undergo a Compliance Inspection in May 2018, which will trigger full membership. The School is an independent organisation, not a part of any group of schools.

The Role

This is a Senior Leadership position offering an unique opportunity to contribute to the further development of the ethos, character and structures of an ambitious value-based school. We have a clear philosophy of education centred on our Walk of the Lion which values Respect, Courage, Cooperation, Consideration and Noble.

As Deputy Head of Primary, you will offer experience and a proven track record of leading outstanding learning and teaching. You will have thorough knowledge, understanding and experience of curriculum and co-curriculum development using the EYFS Curriculum and National Curriculum 2014 for England. There will be a significant teaching role involved in the post. You will model outstanding practice as a class teacher and benefit from a reduced timetable so as to effectively mentor, coach and lead colleagues.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Head of Primary in his absence and assume responsibility for Co-Curricular and Enrichment. In addition to this, further whole-school responsibilities are to be defined upon appointment. Subject specialism would be an advantage but the precise nature of the role is flexible; the priority is to appoint a leader of the highest calibre, whose knowledge, skills and passion can be aligned to school priorities.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be dedicated to educational excellence, creative, energetic, flexible and genuinely respectful of students, staff, parents and the wider community. Successful candidates will have an honours degree and PGCE or B.Ed.

We offer

  • Highly-motivated, engaged and very well-behaved children
  • Excellent teaching team
  • Maximum class sizes of 22
  • Well-resourced classrooms
  • On-going CPD and INSET to support innovative practice
  • An attractive package

The package includes

  • A highly competitive salary
  • High quality accommodation including utility costs
  • Comprehensive medical package
  • Health club membership
  • Tuition arrangements for dependents

Initial contracts will be for a two year fixed-term with possibility of renewal by mutual agreement.
