The College is seeking a dynamic and innovative Deputy Head (Pastoral) to lead the pastoral life of one of the UK’s leading boarding schools and create an innovative and sector leading holistic pastoral framework for the next decade. He/she will be an enthusiastic and creative individual seeking a pupil facing leadership role.
The full boarding environment ensures that community is at the heart of College life with pupil welfare and safeguarding holding primacy. The Deputy Head (Pastoral) will place pupils at the centre of their work. He/she will lead, and further develop, a pastoral culture, shaped by pupil voice, that encourages, and promotes, diversity and inclusion and best practice in supporting pupil wellbeing, mental health, health education and personal safety.
Founded in 1843, Marlborough College is the largest co-educational independent full boarding school in the UK with over 1,000 pupils, in 16 boarding houses, aged 13 to 18. The College is academically ambitious, committed to extending access, and offers a fast-paced, contemporary, challenging and enriching education within a warm, inclusive and spiritual environment.
The successful candidate will be appointed by, and report directly to, the Master, be a member of the College Senior Management Team and play a key role in the strategic and operational management of the College as a whole.
He/she will be aspiring to become a Head in due course. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their senior leadership career within one of the UK’s foremost boarding schools.
