Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for Deputy Head at Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School from April or September 2019.

The School enjoys outstanding facilities, including state of the art STEM provision and three ICT suites. Class sizes are small, allowing individualised teaching and pastoral care. Children of all abilities make excellent progress across the full range of subjects.

We have recently re-designed our curriculum, devising our own alternative to the Common Entrance examination and introducing greater breadth in subjects across the age groups from Reception to Year 8. Philosophy, thinking and learning skills are all featuring more prominently in our pupils’ daily lives.

It is an exciting time to be a part of the School, both as a pupil and a teacher.

The Deputy Head will support the Headmaster with the leadership and day to day running of the School, whilst taking responsibility for teaching and learning throughout the prep school.

The Prep School offers all levels of boarding, from flexi through to full, and all staff play a vital role in the pastoral care of the children. The School has its own salary scale and allowance, and assistance with accommodation is available.

The role of Deputy Head will be an additional responsibility to teaching, and a suitable adjustment to teaching load as appropriate will be made.
