Job overview

SPGS International Senior School Shenzhen is the first bilingual school opened as a result of a partnership between SPGS International and Herald Education Hong Kong. Born out of a desire to create an exceptional educational environment in Shenzhen, our school offers a vibrant and dynamic mix of the very best elements of the Chinese and British approaches to education, all the while modelling itself on the ethos and traditions of St Paul’s Girls’ School, the leading academic school in Great Britain.

An exceptional candidate is required to work closely with the Headmaster in building and running the school. The role is wide-ranging, and as such includes taking overall charge of the smooth day-to-day running of the school; being the senior point of authority in all matters of conduct and discipline, the school calendar (including arrangements for clubs and societies), playing a key role in managing the school’s relationships with the community, and helping the school to prepare for inspection. The Deputy Head will work closely with the Director of Student and Staff Wellbeing in managing the school’s safeguarding practices and casework.

The Deputy Head will engage the pupils in shaping their own individual and collective experience, building upon the opportunities already available to them, as well as introducing new ones. By virtue of their standing, the Deputy Head has the authority to take independent management decisions where appropriate and may be called upon to deputise for the Headmaster from time to time.
