Based in Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day and residential school for young people aged 6 to 19 years who have an autism diagnosis.
The school delivers a flexible and dynamic appproach to young people who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society. Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance. The school welcomes students on a day or weekly residential basis for 38 weeks per year.
You will be a teaching and learning specialist who is able to demonstrate significant experience and knowledge of working within a SEN environment.. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to inspire, challenge, motivate and empower all members of the school community. An outstanding relationship builder, you will inspire exceptional performance and maintain a positive, enthusiastic and nurturing environment for pupils and colleagues alike. You will support the Head Teacher on a day to day basis in managing, developing and implementing a broad, creative education and pastoral programme.
With an emphasis on compliance you will provide leadership and support across both educational and residential provision to ensure that the school meets both internal and external regulatory and legislative standards.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified experienced senior teacher with a sound understanding of the current legislation and statutory regulations relating to current education practice
Experience and knowledge of AS/ASD would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a strategic interest in the residential life of the school, including elements of quality assurance and ensuring the collaborative, joined up approaches meet the needs of our young people.
