Mr Martyn Hill

Values and vision

South Craven School aspires for all of its students to achieve academically, personally, socially and economically. Its formula for success is built on partnership – between home and school, teacher and student, school and community.

The secondary school aims to provide a challenging programme of education that allows all to develop their potential to the full. It aims to develop the whole person in preparation for becoming active and productive citizens.

Learning is placed firmly at the heart of the school’s community. The school recognises that education is the most important experience of a child’s life and its main priority is to develop and stimulate an enthusiasm for - and a commitment to - learning which will last a lifetime.

“The achievement of all groups of students is outstanding. In the main school, students make exceptional progress in their studies and reach well above average, and on occasion, exceptionally high standards in academic and vocational subjects by the time they leave. There is a rich range of academic and vocational programmes in the outstanding sixth form. Leadership and management are outstanding. The exceptionally well-informed headteacher and senior team lead by example and their vision for how the school is to move forward is shared by all staff.”
