Burford School is a highly successful 11-18 rural comprehensive school with Academy status. Established in 1571, we currently have around 1200 students on roll with a strong Sixth Form of over 200 students. Situated high above the town of Burford, on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds, the school includes a Boarding House with just under 100 boarders from both the UK and abroad.
We serve a widespread rural community and close links are maintained with our nine partner Primary Schools which provide two thirds of our annual intake of approximately 200 students. Some students travel considerable distances from beyond our catchment area to take up places at the school due to its excellent reputation for academic success, extra-curricular activities and pastoral care, and the growing Sixth Form attracts new members each year. Our aim is to recruit colleagues who will be stimulated by the prospect of working hard to share in our success.
Due to the promotion of the current post-holder to headship, there is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative leader to join our highly professional and effective Senior Leadership Team.
The person appointed will be responsible for the strategic overview of our Boarding Department and Sixth Form. This is a non-residential post and would suit experienced middle leaders with a pastoral or academic background. Burford is a dynamic and exciting school, with examination results that put us in the top 20% of schools in the country. The person appointed would help lead us through the next phase of our development.
Applications should be returned to the Headteacher, Mrs K M Haig.
Closing date: Friday 12th January 2018 at 12:00.
Interviews will be in early January.
