We are looking to appoint a versatile and talented senior leader to the post of Deputy Headteacher in our unique day and residential school, which caters for boys aged 9 to 19, who are primarily diagnosed with Autism and experience other complex needs such as PDA, ADHD, dyslexia, and Dyspraxia.

Breckenbrough is a picturesque non-maintained special school set in the heart of North Yorkshire with 70 students on roll. The successful applicant will:

• Work alongside the Headteacher to support and develop strategic initiatives and drive forward continuous whole school improvement.

• Play a key role in the Senior Leadership Team, with particular reference to personal development and behaviour, monitoring and analysing outcomes, monitoring the quality of education, and leading on curriculum development.

• Have experience of school leadership in either special and/or mainstream settings, including managing staff performance and professional development.

• Have proven high quality experience of supporting students with a range of complex needs. Knowledge of successful strategies for meeting the needs of young people with Autism is essential, as is an understanding of behaviour and strategies to support students with high levels of anxiety.

• Be a professional individual who is prepared to work flexibly in a vibrant, caring, and supportive environment, with students who really appreciate a staff team who are reliable and compassionate.
