About Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School

Mount Carmel RC High School had their most recent Ofsted Inspection in September 2021.

We are delighted to have been judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas and ‘Good’ overall as a school and in some areas, we were very close to being judged outstanding.

Headteacher Mr Xavier Bowers said “We are delighted with the overall judgements and inspection report. This report recognises all the hard work that has gone on across school in the last 6 years and confirms that Mount Carmel is officially a good school in all areas.”

The chair of Governors Andrew Dabrowski said “We would like to congratulate Mr Bowers, his dedicated and hardworking staff, pupils, parents, PTFA, governors and school advisors from the LA and Diocese of Salford for their continued support. We look forward to sustaining and securing all aspects of these ‘Good’ judgements but continue to be highly ambitious for the school in the future and will start putting plans in place so we can look to move forward on securing an outstanding judgement in the future.”

Mr Dabrowski also said “In March 2020 the school was also judged to be ‘Good’ in all categories and ‘Good’ overall by the Diocese of Salford Section 48 Inspection. This latest Ofsted inspection report just shows how much the school has improved on both inspection frameworks. However, we know we cannot be complacent and have complete confidence in Mr Bowers and his team of talented, hardworking and committed staff to ensure the school continues to go from strength to strength in the future. Accrington and Oswaldtwistle has a Catholic Secondary School they can be very proud of indeed.”

Mount Carmel RC High School serves the Catholic community of Hyndburn and the surrounding areas. We are proud to provide high quality Catholic education for all families in the area who share our values, beliefs and traditions. We regard each pupil as a child of God, each with their own unique set of talents and qualities. At Mount Carmel, we strive to develop and nurture these qualities and in that regard we ask for the full support of parents so together we are able to give all pupils the best possible foundation for the future. As well as ensuring that all pupils enjoy learning and achieve the best possible exam results, our aim is for our students to leave Mount Carmel as well rounded, confident, well-mannered, responsible, caring and compassionate young people, who have been formed by all that is good in Catholic education.

Mount Carmel is a school with a great heritage. It has a long standing relationship with the local catholic and wider community. It is a school that has also gone from strength to strength in recent years and continues to strive for nothing less than excellence in all aspects. It is a school firmly based on strong family values and all that is good about the beliefs and traditions of our Catholic faith. It is focused on developing outstanding teaching and learning so that all pupils are developed fully academically, socially, morally and spiritually. We believe that all these values will ensure that our pupils are well placed to make a positive contribution to the school and wider community and, when they leave, to the rapidly changing and multi-cultural world we live.
