Job overview

Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust is one of the leading medium sized Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) and educates some 2,200 pupils. Growth plans will increase this to around 3,000 by 2020.

We are now recruiting a primary school Deputy Headteacher. This is an extremely exciting opportunity for an existing school leader who is an outstanding classroom practitioner. The successful candidate will be based in one school but will be working closely with the Headteacher to develop the teaching and learning across two primary schools within the Trust.

This role would involve leading on change in more than one setting and would suit a current assistant Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher wishing to move their career on to the next level.

We aim to be recognised for our inclusive approach and excellent academic standards producing students who can be successful in any social sphere. So the teaching professional needed for this role will be someone who is ready to take that next step, is dedicated to our ethos and committed to the all through educational experience offered by Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust. Is that you?

As Deputy Headteacher you will act as a “sounding board” and “critical friend” to the Headteacher and become heavily involved in key school leadership and management areas. This will include evaluating, developing and writing policies as well as producing a yearly school development plan to ensure continual and ongoing school improvement. You will carry out rigorous assessment, monitoring and analysis to ensure that pupil achievement exceeds the national average and that overall standards remain high.

You will support teaching staff to deliver outstanding lessons by observing lessons, offering feedback to teachers, setting ongoing targets. You will be involved in the performance management of staff as well as providing training for teachers and teaching assistants to maintain standards. You will also implement approved procedures where performance does not meet expectations.

Critically you will be given the opportunity to use your skills to shape the direction of the school as well as ensure we deliver appropriate, comprehensive, high quality and cost-effective teaching.
