About the role

We are passionate about making the school a special place that pupils enjoy coming to every single day. We have an opportunity for a new Deputy Headteacher to help provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school.

Working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the school has effective management and the required team capability to further develop and continually improve. Whether the role covers Behaviour and Welfare or Teaching and Learning will be decided in accordance to the experience and skill set of the successful candidate.

You will be joining an experienced and committed staff team and will have the opportunity to help set the direction of our successful school that is unique in its region.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to hear from dynamic and passionate individuals with knowledge of working with young people with SEN or emotional behavioural difficulties, whether in mainstream or special provision. We are looking for someone who knows how to bring a creative and innovative approach to improving performance and support for our pupils and their families. An excellent communicator, you will act as an ambassador for the school and have demonstrable experience of working in partnership with parents, Local Authorities and other stakeholders. If you are a truly inspirational, highly-motivated and forward thinking leader, with the energy and passion to change lives coupled with proven experience of whole school development and improvement, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

In return for your experience and commitment we offer the Teachers’ Pension scheme, outstanding career opportunities, access to a network of great senior colleagues within the Acorn Care and Education Group and the chance to shape the future and ongoing development of the school.

We welcome pre-application visits to our school site which can be arranged by contacting Lisa Crosby, School Administrator, on 01664 454264. Enquiries about the position can also be made on this telephone number.

The closing date for all applications is Monday 24th September 2018. Interviews will take place week commencing Monday 1st October 2018.

Acorn Care and Education is committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to fully Enhanced DBS check and robust pre-employment checks.

In its stunning country setting The Grange day and 38 week residential school offers a holistic therapeutic approach in its teaching and environment.

Small class sizes and an onsite therapy team help pupils re-engage in education through traditional learning opportunities alongside numerous off site vocational options and accredited activities which develop the boys’ confidence & social skills, improving their potential to move on to a meaningful adult life.

The individual curriculum is extended to well resourced primary classes where pupils are also encouraged through a nurturing approach in lessons and during play activities.

Primary and secondary schools are just a short walk from each other and set close to the two small and homely boarding houses which offer outstanding wraparound care for the school’s weekly boarders.
