Job Title:        Deputy Headteacher/SENCO 

Location:      Groveside School, Reading, Berkshire

Salary:         Up to £55,000 per annum dependent on experience

Hours:         37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 

Contract:       Permanent, Term Time Only

We are excited to introduce a Brand-New School, Groveside School in Reading, Berkshire. Groveside is due to open in September 2024, however we are looking for staff to join us earlier to help set up our school and be prepared for when our pupils start. We would be looking for someone to start in this role in April 2024. 

Our school will cater for 60 pupils between 7 to 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher/SENCO to join our team. Job Purpose

To provide a high-quality education service for our students in accordance with Company policies, procedures and practices and the standards set by the Regulatory Body. To work with the Head Teacher, leadership team and other stakeholders to secure high standards throughout the school.

The Deputy Headteacher will:

  • Be a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Support and direct the Headteacher in leading and managing the school
  • A fully qualified teacher (QTS).
  • Undertake such duties as are reasonably delegated by the Headteacher.
  • Play a major role, under the overall direction of the Headteacher, in growing the school to its full capacity as well as formulating and reviewing the School Improvement Plan and the aims and objectives of the school by:
  • Establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved.
  • Leading and managing staff and resources to that end.
  • Monitoring progress towards their achievement.
  • Playing a key role in the school self-review process.

SENCo

  • Lead the Therapy and Wellbeing Team
  • Arrange and support transition of new students
  • Collate documents of new students and create Provision Passports for each pupil
  • Attend MDT meetings, discussing referrals and actioning outcomes from these meetings
  • Ensure that school policies and procedures are in line with the latest government SEN policies and regulations
  • Preparing and leading SEN training for all staff
