Hours:            37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

To ensure that the special educational needs of pupils are met by providing a consistent and efficient service congruent with the organisation’s aim, objectives and philosophy

To provide high quality educational services that meet the needs of young people with Special Educational Needs SEMH or ASD. 

To deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils with SEN, working to a range of qualification levels to include; BTEC Level 1 and 2. National Curriculum for KS2 and KS3.

To flexibly adapt teaching methods for lessons taught in groups, paired, 1:1 and outreach sessions. Utilising extensive knowledge and experience bases in working with young people with SEN/SEMH/ASD to adjust teaching styles to meet individual learner needs. 

To know, understand and role model OFG’s cultural and behavioural expectations as leading provider of therapeutic pupilcare and employer of choice.

To know, understand and promote OFG’s service delivery as a leading provider of therapeutic pupilcare, as a commercial ambassador for the company

Essential: 

  • Evidence of essential qualification will be required prior to employment commencing.
  • QTS / QTLS or willingness to work towards
  • Degree or A-Level relevant to the roll of DT and Construction Teacher.
  • Positive, energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Assertive and confident
  • Able to build effective relationships
  • A commitment to excel, continuously aspiring to big collective goals with personal humility, and investing in personal development.
  • Thorough knowledge of SEN / SEMH / ASD and how teaching and communication practices must be adapted in order to meet individual needs. 

About us

Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 students to 80 and having a large investment in our school site developing KS2 and sixth form provision. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.

You will contribute to making Smallbrook School an outstanding provision for our young people and their families. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment and are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

Our School is based halfway between Shrewsbury and Wem in Shropshire.
