Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designated Safeguarding Lead to take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school (including online safety). They will advise and support other members of staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police.

Some safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, but the DSL will retain ultimate lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection. The DSL will decide on the delegation of aspects of Safeguarding to the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective therapeutic work with children and young adults as well as dealing with a variety of issues that the modern world presents. The ability to build and develop effective relationships with students and staff is essential.

Our ideal candidate will have a high level of professional skill, a genuine enjoyment of working with special needs children and other adults, and an enthusiasm for the ethos and aims of the school. They will be approachable, committed, inspirational, kind, calm, and willing to go to the extra mile for our students. They will understand the developmental, emotional and social needs of children and young people, and have an awareness of the needs of young people from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds.

Salary: LBR 10.  44.26 Weeks and 34 hours weekly
