As a Secondary PE expert, you will use your vision for the transformation of PE. Your role will continue to grow YST’s insight in Physical Education both nationally and internationally to inform and challenge practice and to ensure all YST Development and Programme Managers are equipped to make their content relevant to Secondary PE practitioners. You will be required to lead the effective implementation and development of national programmes aimed at transforming PE e.g. Sport England Teacher Training programme and to nurture and support a network of PE Catalyst’s, Higher Education Institution and Initial teacher training colleagues.

You will have provided assistance and guidance to professionals as well as been involved in the development of young people. You must also have sound knowledge of the latest developments in education and education policy as well as a good understanding of cross-curricular design, development and pedagogy and the value of PE and School Sport.

Effective at motivating teams, you will possess excellent communication, negotiation and project management skills. Have an understanding of managing budgets, you will also be good at building relationships, overcoming problems and prioritising activities.

In return you will get to join a dynamic and energetic charity passionate about improving young people’s lives where all staff are given the opportunity to engage in the leadership and direction of the organisation. The Youth Sport Trust (YST) is a progressive and cutting edge development agency focused on improving opportunities for young people through physical education and sport. We are a registered charity and were established in 1995. Since then we have undergone considerable growth and in 2007/8 our staffing complement will exceed 120 and our turnover will be in excess of £25m.

Organisational values built on trust, integrity and partnership working are central to our work and we are resilient in maintaining our focus on the development and delivery of interventions to support young people’s development.

Through our work with Government, corporate partners and schools, we have developed exciting educational resources, environments and opportunities for all young people to enjoy and have improved PE and sport for over five million young people, through a range of programmes specifically designed to support their education and development.

In England, we work across five areas, which have been determined to complement Government Office regions and to balance the number of LEAs and schools across the country.
