About the role

Reporting to the Manager: Communications, The Digital and Social Content Officer is responsible for supporting the creation of engaging digital content for all SCS social media platforms. The Digital and Social Content Officer will play an important role in the development of a range of communication collateral, which may include editing, writing, uploading and managing content across multiple social media platforms.

Major Accountabilities

The Digital and Social Content Officer is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:

  • contributing to social media content plans that are consistent with SCS brand identity
  • working closely with the Communications team to prepare and execute digital content plans, including ongoing planning, publishing and monitoring of digital content
  • creating purposeful, meaningful content and visuals on all social media platforms, including, editing and posting social media content, and promoting social media campaigns
  • suggesting recommendations to adjust the social media strategy for optimal results
  • keeping up to date on best practices and emerging trends in social media
  • communicating with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner
  • creating written pieces that are sharp, memorable, and effective at prompting readers to take action
  • developing creative, yet appropriately aligned content for school social media accounts
  • contributing to the development of resources to support novice users to maximise their effectiveness on social media
  • promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools’ mission To know and love Christ through learning and vision of Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
  • promoting and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools’ values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth
  • any other duties as directed from time to time.

The Person

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • tertiary qualification/s in Media and Communications or other relevant disciplines
  • minimum three years experience in digital communications including writing, designing and producing high-quality and high-impact content
  • demonstrated ability to write with clarity and creativity for multiple audiences and across a range of media
  • proven high-level interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders including internal staff, principals, students, parents, Catholic Church and parish representatives, and community partners
  • experienced using social media extensively as an effective engagement and marketing tool
  • experienced in developing aligned social media campaigns extensively.
  • working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • natural born storyteller who can help stakeholders understand what makes engaging content
  • self-motivated and able to prioritise, plan and juggle competing and changing deadlines
  • a valid Working With Children Check clearance (WWC) number
  • a current driver’s licence
  • willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
