Job overview

At Cheshire West and Chester Council one of our key aims is that all our families, children and young people are supported to get the best start in life.  This means investing in a strong and inclusive education system which allows everyone to thrive. We already have a strong education service and positive relationships with the schools and academies in the borough, but we are keen to see further improvements in attainment for our most disadvantaged children and to ensure that our mainstream schools become more inclusive.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Director of Education and Inclusion to manage this broad service, which includes school improvement, SEND/inclusion, specialist services, school place planning, early years and the virtual school.  Non-statutory services are delivered through an arm’s length traded service called Edsential.  Candidates will need a strong track record in a relevant school-related service, excellent partnership skills, a strategic approach, and a determination to improve the life chances for all our children and young people.  You will be fully supported by Members, colleagues and the education improvement board in delivering best practice and great outcomes.

Please note that the current Director is moving to part time hours, and hence we are seeking another person to fulfil the role as a job share at two to three days per week and are open to consider a range of options to cover this opportunity either as a secondment, temporary appointment or permanent part-time appointment basis.
