Leigh Academy Minster is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Learning - English to join their team from September 2024. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward the English department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning are maintained. As Director of Learning you will develop and implement strategies to enhance student progress and attainment in English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team to create a dynamic and engaging mathematics curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Lead and inspire a team of English teachers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning within the English department, implementing strategies for improvement where necessary.
  • Analyse data to track student progress and attainment, identifying areas for intervention and support.
  • Foster a positive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported to achieve their academic goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the leadership team to promote cross-curricular initiatives and shared best practices.
  • Develop strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to support student learning and achievement.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Significant experience teaching mathematics at secondary level, with a proven track record of raising student achievement.
  • Strong understanding of current educational trends, pedagogical approaches, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.

The basis of this role is full-time, permanent and offering a salary of leadership scale commensurate with experience. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place on Thursday 2nd May.
