Job overview

Freebrough Academy was established in September 2010 and was graded as Good by Ofsted in 2015. No longer requiring a sponsor, Freebrough Academy was fundamental in establishing Teesside Learning Trust, a Multi Academy Trust which was established on 1st September 2016, comprising of two Primary Academies in Redcar and Cleveland, and two Secondary Academies, Thornaby Academy in Stockton and Freebrough Academy in Redcar and Cleveland. We are at an exciting point in our development as a Trust.

Led by a strong and effective Board of Trustees, Teesside Learning Trust is ambitious for all of our students and is keen to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the North East region. Students benefit from the resources and expertise across the four schools within the Trust and we are in a great position to develop a smooth and seamless transition between primary and secondary schools for our students. Being part of a much bigger entity also brings opportunities for the development of staff and succession planning opportunities.

Our aim is to be recognised as an outstanding provider of education and we are committed to appointing outstanding practitioners to join us on this exciting journey.

At Freebrough Academy, we are looking to appoint an ambitious middle leader to the post of Director of Learning for Science. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Teacher who has had some experience of leading a faculty or leading a whole school priority.

The successful applicant will join an exceptional extended leadership team who work collaboratively with senior leaders to drive school improvements. Upon appointment, the successful candidate will commence a 12-month CPD programme to develop their leadership skills and help them to become the very best leader they can be. As part of this extended leadership team, there are opportunities to lead on and drive a whole school priority to develop skills which will support you to realise your future career goals.

At Freebrough Academy, we have a shared goal to be recognised as an outstanding provider of education, and we are looking for people who share this drive and ambition. Staff at Freebrough Academy work closely and effectively together to support and guide our young people to be proud of who they are and to be the best that they can be.

This is an exciting time to join Freebrough Academy; being part of a forward-thinking and innovative Trust has opened a range of fantastic opportunities for our staff. We are really proud to see our ambitious and talented staff leading on initiatives and projects which will influence education across the Trust. There are many opportunities to work collaboratively with primary and secondary colleagues and lead on strategies across the MAT. You will benefit from a range of CPD opportunities including Lead Practitioner Status, Middle Leader training, TEEP training, Pivotal training and SEND.

We welcome applications from individuals who share our passion for improving the aspirations of young people in this community, for striving to ensure that our students receive a first-class education and are equipped with the skills to become anything that they want to be in the future.

This is your opportunity to join an amazing team of practitioners who are not afraid to step out of their comfort zone, develop their skills and work collaboratively with their colleagues across the Trust.

A retention incentive is available for the successful candidate. This is a £1,000 payment at the end of the first and second years of employment with the Academy. A relocation package of up to £1,000 is also available.
