The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School is a co-educational voluntary aided school based in Herefordshire for students aged 11-16. It is a Church of England school.

Values and vision

The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School aims to be a vibrant Christian learning community enabling students to flourish academically and socially. The school’s central ethos is one of providing care, respecting the needs of others, showing courtesy and providing a warm community feel which provides an atmosphere where its students can make the very best of their talents to achieve success and are inspired to chase their dreams.

Student participation in the organisation of the school is also encouraged. It encourages this through its school council, eco-council, roles such as prefects, librarians and peer listeners and participation in staff interviews. It is believed that this helps to ensure students are well prepared for adult membership of a rapidly changing society.

Ofsted

“Teaching is good and much is outstanding. In these lessons, teachers show enthusiasm for their subject; their planning is sharply focused with clear objectives and the lessons themselves capture students’ interest, with good pace and challenge. The behaviour of students is exemplary in class and around the school. Students feel outstandingly safe and have a mature understanding of safety and risk. Their attendance is above average and is improving further. Bullying is rare and is dealt with swiftly. School leaders are rigorous in monitoring students’ progress and the quality of teaching.”
