Job overview

Sedbergh Prep School is situated in a spectacular rural location in the Lune Valley, an ideal place for living out the ethos of allowing children to be children. Here we lay the foundations for nurturing the resilience our children will need as young adults, and the tenacity essential to achieving high standards.

Sedbergh School has long enjoyed a reputation for sporting excellence and the Prep School benefits from both a close relationship with the Senior School and superb facilities of its own. The pupils enjoy a full sized Astroturf, sports hall (4 x badminton courts), indoor swimming pool, netball courts, tennis courts, games pitches and riding centre.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to build upon these firm foundations and lead the sports department into the next chapter of its development. The post would suit either an outstanding NQT or a more experienced teacher seeking greater responsibility. The successful candidate will benefit from a supportive leadership team and training where necessary.

The Prep School offers all levels of boarding, from flexi through to full, and all staff play a vital role in the pastoral care of the children. The School has its own salary scale and allowance, and assistance with accommodation is available. School fee discount in Sedbergh Prep School/Sedbergh School also applies to this post.

The post is available from 1 September 2018.

Closing date for applications is Monday 26th February 2018 at 12:00am.

Interviews will be held in the week commencing Monday 5th March 2018.

About Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School

Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School is very much a family school. We care for the children in small classes which allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child. We foster their talents and nurture their growth through a broad, balanced, challenging and exciting curriculum and, in doing so, create an environment whereby each child is provided with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We believe that emotional and social well-being, self-esteem, happiness and confidence are of prime importance and are in themselves inextricably linked to academic progress.

The wonderful environment and outstanding facilities provide a strong framework upon which the ethos of ‘allowing children to be children’ can be achieved.
