The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth.  The school is an IB World School and offers the IB Diploma alongside A Level. 

We are seeking to appoint a full time Director of Sport to lead a large and experienced department at The Portsmouth Grammar School and to shape our vision and strategic direction for Sport within the Senior School, which offers outstanding sporting facilities and opportunities.

Sport  is a significant aspect of life at PGS thanks to a genuinely inclusive programme with opportunities for pupils at all levels, a comprehensive fixtures programme, specialist coaching and sports tours in the UK and abroad.  

We are therefore seeking to appoint someone with a real passion for sport and physical education, a proven track record of leadership and an inspirational approach.

Interviews will take place  on Thursday 3 May 2018 and candidates are asked to allow the whole day for the process.

Founded in 1732, The Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS) is a co-educational independent day school for pupils aged 2½ - 18 years, situated in the heart of Portsmouth, Hampshire.  This thriving school is just a stone’s throw from the Solent and comprises of a Pre-School, Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form, providing the very best education to 1,348 pupils.

ISI Report 2022

During an ISI Inspection in late 2022 both the achievement of the pupils, including their academic development and the personal development of the pupils were found to be excellent - the highest possible classification. The Inspection also looked at the School’s compliance with the regulatory standards and requirements. PGS met all the standards required.
