The role

The Director of Student Learning (Year 7-10) is focused on achieving innovation, engagement, depth and diversity in the learning experiences of Year 7 to 10 students and is a member of the College Executive. Vital elements of the role are implementing Deep Learning into our Year 7 to 10 teaching and learning programs, and co-designing learning opportunities which utilise the College’s outdoor education campus, Vision Valley. The role is pivotal in bringing new directions, programs and ways of thinking about education to our Year 7 to 10 students.


About you

You will have:

• Experience in leading and embedding innovative approaches to learning with Stage 4 and 5 with a focus on developing global competencies through rigorous inquiry of complex phenomena

• Demonstrates progressive thinking regarding the role and function of assessment and reporting

• Experience in working with the Deep Learning framework

• A specialist in leading and teaching Stage 4 and 5 with experience and passion for this stage of educational development

• Proven ability to deliver transformational outcomes in innovative learning, combined with strong interpersonal effectiveness in leading teams of people in a period of change

• Experience teaching and working across multiple learning areas in a school

• Demonstrate a learning mindset with the ability to think beyond the current paradigm

• Excellent ability to communicate with educators, parents and students and experience in motivating a school community to understand and embrace change

• Ability to find a balance between structure and flexibility, where rules and regulations are managed with deep care of the individuals involved.

The College consists of five separate schools – Preparatory, Junior, Middle, Upper and Senior, on 20 landscaped hectares. Each school caters to the different stages of learning and has a focus on Personalised Education and the wellbeing of each individual student. Students enjoy a variety of first-class facilities including: state-of-the-art Aquatic and Fitness Centre with a 50m swimming and diving pool, weights area, cardio machines and athlete tracking software; sporting fields; tennis and netball courts; hockey fields; gymnasium; 750-seat performing arts centre; agriculture plot; libraries; and buildings dedicated to specialised subjects such as art, music, languages and the sciences.

Curriculum

Pymble Ladies’ College offers a wide range of subjects in accordance with the NSW Education Standards Authority. Students also have the opportunity to study co-curricular subjects such as robotics, filmmaking, dance and art. Specialised programs, including the Pymble Elite Sportswomen’s Program, Pymble Musicians’ Program and the Sokratis Program for high potential learners, as well as overseas exchanges and tours, ensure students have every chance to follow their passions and excel.
