Are you an experienced and dedicated Special Needs educator who is looking to develop your skills in an international setting? Are you a committed Christian who would relish the chance to integrate your faith into your professional practice? Are you interested in living and working in a country so beautiful Winston Churchill declared it ‘the pearl of Africa?’ If so, then Heritage International School would love to hear from you.
Our Student Support Services are responsible for over a hundred students on our register. They have a range of needs from ESL to developmental disorders such as ASD and ADHD, and we also support students who are experiencing issues with emotional wellbeing and mental health.
We are looking for a leader with a clear vision for growth. You should have a passion for developing the skills and knowledge of the team, expertise in a range of tried and tested interventions for children with additional needs, an understanding of how data collection, IEPs, reviews and assessment can support children to achieve beyond expectations. You will have had experience either as SENCO, or Learning Support department manager, or extensive experience in a special school, preferably at middle management level. A Masters or equivalent in an area of SEN would be an advantage as would experience of cognitive testing/dyslexia screening. You will be leading a team of 8 professionals and will have responsibility for all aspects of the department. You will also be part of the School Management Team, and will play a key role in helping the school to achieve the goals in its Improvement Plan.
You will need to be enthusiastic, patient and a problem solver, as there are very limited sources of support outside of the school. You will need to be a committed Christian in line with our school's accreditation policy, and excited about the prospect of integrating your faith into your professional practice.
