Job overview

States of Jersey

We’re continuing to build a new future for Jersey that is more modern, sustainable and prosperous for all. It’s a future that will see people, business and government come together to collaborate in a way they’ve never done before. This approach is called Team Jersey and it’s a milestone in our history: one island, one community, one government - and one exciting future. We need talented leaders to join us for a career-defining opportunity: to make change happen on a unique, historic island.

We want young people and their families to thrive in Jersey. And that means putting in place a vision for vocational, further and higher education services that gives every individual a real chance to succeed. You’ll help the Director General for Children, Young People, Education and Skills to do just that, creating high quality vocational, further and higher education and skills development. To make sure that the current and future skills our island needs are being taught, you’ll involve local businesses and the private sector. You’ll also see that we discharge our duties as a corporate parent by building links with all our partners to support positive life chances for our children. And by striving to hit learner success and employer satisfaction targets, you’ll ensure that services meet the island’s needs, now and in the future.

To help deliver transformation and safe, resilient services, you’ll need experience at senior management level together with an in-depth understanding of vocational, further and higher education, skills development and youth work - from philosophy and design to delivery and practice.

With this background, you’ll be a highly-credible figure, with the confidence and ability to build strategic relationships. Able to hold sway with a range of influential stakeholders and partners, you’ll also be perfectly at home in a political environment. Meanwhile, you’ll also be used to managing performance and inspiring teams to achieve. With an understanding of policy and governance in your area, you’ll play your part in a momentous move that will benefit a community of 100,000 people.

Perhaps you have a high-profile background in business or government. Or you hold an outstanding track record in public sector transformation, we want to hear from you.

Bring the boundless Jersey talent we’re looking for and you can help lead the biggest transformation in government for a generation. Join Team Jersey and find your unique place in the world.
