Location: London N19 & N5

School: Little Angels Day Nursery & Pre Prep School

Contract type: Full Time (Monday – Thursday)

Contract Term: Maternity Cover

Start Date: April/May 2019

We are looking to appoint an inspirational Early Years Teacher (EYFS) or Primary Teacher (KS1) to join our dedicated team to cover a period of maternity leave commencing April 2019. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced teacher to shape and lead pedagogy within our setting, and maintain the excellent standard of early years education we offer.

Established in 1991, Little Angels consists of two privately owned settings, each with approximately 70 places for children aged 5 months to 5 years. We have two Pre-School classrooms, one in each setting, with class sizes of approximately 13 children, aged 3 to 5 years. The nurseries are well resourced and both have outdoor spaces which offer a range of opportunities for exploration, investigation and play.

Job Outline

The role involves leading pedagogy in the setting; planning and implementing a curriculum based on the EYFS which supports children’s learning and development. The teacher works with the support of a small teaching team which includes a part-time Teacher and a Teaching Assistant. They are responsible for working with practitioner teams and senior members of staff across both settings to ensure effective implementation of our play based, child-led curriculum throughout the nursery. In addition to planning and directing sessions in our dedicated teaching room, responsibilities include running weekly planning meetings, assisting with INSET training days, maintaining children’s folders, carrying out children’s observations on our bespoke in-house system and writing transfer records. The teacher will also be expected to assist practitioners, maintain best practice and encourage sustained shared thinking between adults and children.

Above all, we are looking for a creative and innovative teacher with a passion for learning.

You must have a PGCE or QTS to be considered for this position, and an excellent command of written and spoken English.

We can offer:

Holiday:

Little Angels is open 49 weeks of the year (the nursery is closed for two weeks at Christmas and one at Easter)

Christmas and Easter are paid in full, as well as any remaining bank holidays.

An additional 3 weeks holiday, which can be taken in week long blocks or as individual days during summer and term time.

A four day work week but paid for five: In lieu of standard school holidays we offer our teacher every Friday off work, paid. All non-contact time and curriculum planning are carried out within working hours.
