Job overview

Ref: GLA3966

GLA Economics’ analysis and advice informs key investment decisions at the Greater London Authority (GLA).  The GLA requires high quality economic analysis and advice to ensure that the strategies we develop and the projects we deliver are based on sound evidence.

From 2019/2020 the Adult Education Budget (AEB) will be devolved to the Mayor. The AEB is worth about £310 million a year in London and delivers training to adults aged 19+. To support the successful delivery of the AEB budget GLA Economics will need to (a) produce reliable skills and labour market data with authoritative interpretation thereof and (b) support in the appraisal and evaluation of AEB spend. You will work cross-teams to produce this work and will manage one Economist.

You will have professional qualifications in Economics, or a related subject, with relevant experience in the field of Economics (ideally, though not necessarily, in skills/labour markets). You will also be able to work with large and complex datasets and have knowledge of project appraisal techniques. You should be confident working with a wide array of people and teams and in managing staff.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan, childcare voucher scheme and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role or the recruitment process then please contact a member of the recruitment team via email on glajobs@london.gov.uk quoting reference GLA3966.

Application closing date: Sunday 17 March 2019 at 23:59 GMT.

London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
