Description The Catholic Schools Office is seeking internal Expressions of Interest for the position of Education Officer Gifted Education K-12.

Temporary Part-time 0.4 FTE.
Position Requirements The Education Officer Gifted Education K-12 coordinates the development of gifted education programs in schools, implements initiatives and recommendations, disseminates information and facilitates professional learning for teachers and leaders to ensure gifted education is embedded in curriculum delivery across the diocese.



The Education Officer – Gifted Education is responsible to the Director of Schools through the Head of Teaching and Learning Services.



We are seeking to appoint a highly proficient and experienced educational leader to work with Sally Brock, (Education Officer, Gifted Education) to support the implementation and sustainability of the system wide approach to gifted education.
Essential Criteria • Articulates a clear understanding of, and personal commitment to, the mission of Catholic schooling in the diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

• Demonstrates a clear understanding of Catholic perspectives across the curriculum.

• Has formal qualifications in, or is willing to undertake postgraduate study in gifted education.

• Possesses knowledge of curriculum from K-12.

• Demonstrates an understanding of how gifted education programs can be embedded in the curriculum.

• Has a passion for the education of gifted students, with an understanding of how they learn.

• Initiates strategies and leads colleagues (K-12) in the implementation of sustainable gifted education programs.

• Models and shares an understanding of current research in gifted education and how this applies to the learning of students.

• Demonstrates the ability to facilitate professional learning and to access specialist knowledge for teachers in the field.

• Builds the capacity of teachers in gifted education.
