About the School

The Grange is an 8-18 mixed gender SEMH SEN School on the Rutland / Leicestershire border with a strong emphasis on the care and welfare of its pupils. At the last Ofsted the school was rated “Good” overall with “Outstanding” ratings for behaviour / welfare and leadership / management.

About the Role

You’ll join our multi-disciplinary team of dedicated therapy staff. You’ll provide psychological assessment for pupils within the school, guidance for education and care teams and professional development training for all staff. The role involves communicating with families/ carers and specialist agencies. You’ll work alongside OT, SALT, psychotherapy and counselling professionals, reporting to the Head of Therapy.

This is a challenging role and you must be able to cope with stressful interpersonal situations whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism. This may involve highly emotive and distressing problems and the threat of verbal and physical abuse.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an Educational Psychologist with a doctoral professional qualification and HCPC registration. You’ll need to be creative and passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with complex needs.

The ideal candidate will be resilient and have experience of working in with children and young people with complex SEN needs. You’ll need to be a good communicator with strong skills in assessment and report writing.

Essential Criteria

  • A doctoral professional qualification in Educational Psychology
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Creative and passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people
  • Able to work as part of a team and be self-reliant

In its stunning country setting The Grange day and 38 week residential school offers a holistic therapeutic approach in its teaching and environment.

Small class sizes and an onsite therapy team help pupils re-engage in education through traditional learning opportunities alongside numerous off site vocational options and accredited activities which develop the boys’ confidence & social skills, improving their potential to move on to a meaningful adult life.
