About Mother Teresa Early Learning Centre 

Mother Teresa School caters for students from four years of age, where students are enrolled in our Early Learning Centre, to students in Year Six. Our school motto “do small things with great love” inspires us to care for fellow members of our school community as well as reach out into the wider community. 

About the Role 

The Early Childhood Educator will work as a part of a team striving for excellence in teaching and learning, where relationships and partnerships are nurtured and respected, where children feel safe and develop a strong sense of identity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, implementing and evaluating a high quality preschool program guided by the Early Years Learning Framework in collaboration with the classroom teacher
  • Develop, implement and evaluate daily routines, in open communication with the classroom teacher and other team members
  • Be responsible for collecting observational data for individual children and/or groups of children for programming and planning purposes, and contributing to children’s individual portfolios
  • Work collaboratively and respecitfully with all members of the ELC team.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all the children while at the Centre through modelling good practice
  • Engage and communicate with children in a positive manner, giving each child attention and appropriate comfort as required.
  • Work within the Education and Care National Quality Framework including National Law, Regulations and National Quality Standards.
  • Understand and work according to the Centre’s policies and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing staff professional development and appraisal programs
  • Attend and participate in ELC staff meetings and contribute to the development of the centre’s Quality Improvement plan

Essential Criteria 

  • Must hold a relevant Working with Vulnerable Children registration
  • Diploma in Children’s Services qualification 
  • Certificate III in Children's Services qualification 
  • Certificates in First Aid (HLTAID004) & Asthma and Anaphylaxis
  • The ability to provide high quality care for all children at the Centre
  • Active participation as a team member and a commitment to an inclusive working environment
  • Strong organisational skills
  • A commitment to developing positive relationships with families
  • A well-developed sense of responsibility and self-motivation
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality with staff, families and children
  • A commitment to development and improvement within the field of Early Childhood education
  • An ability to work with different multimedia platforms

Other Eligibility Criteria 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position. 
  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.
