Job overview

Uppingham School are seeking an experienced and well qualified electrician to join the Maintenance Department and play a key role providing support with maintenance across the School’s estate.

Many of the School’s buildings which make up the estate are either listed and/or lie in the Uppingham Conservation Area, which brings its own special demands to the job of the Maintenance Department.

You will join a small team of electricians and assist with installation works, maintenance operations on various systems, equipment and appliances, including both single-phase and three-phase systems, lighting and alarm systems etc. You will also work on larger refurbishment projects as part of the team.

To be considered for this role, you will need an appropriate professional (or trade) accreditation (e.g. Level 3 City & Guilds 2230 or equivalent apprenticeship, 18th Edition of IEE regulations). You will also need practical knowledge and experience of electrical maintenance, including power supplies, lighting and alarm systems, motors, controls and portable appliances. Experience with single-phase and three-phase systems is equally important.
