Responsibilities

Leadership

• Delivery of a holistic education in the elementary school, in alignment with the school’s strategic direction, guiding statements, values and High Quality Learning and Teaching protocols

• Fulfill the goals of Stamford American School’s strategic plan

• Collaborate closely with the Elementary Principal, elementary curriculum team and the Director of Teaching and Learning

• In consultation, develop and implement school policies and procedures

• Establish, through teamwork, a culture of continued improvement to raise the standards of achievement, wellbeing and positive behaviour in elementary students


Teacher Support

• Build teacher capacity and capability through coaching and mentoring

• In alignment with Stamford’s strategic plan, provide professional development for continued improvement

• Promote and demonstrate continued improvement and feedback protocols


Curriculum Management

• Ensuring effective reporting of learning to all stakeholders, including visible learning and curriculum

• Assessment for learning

• Working with teams, use data to monitor, track and analyze, to improve student achievement & outcomes

• Assist with the revision & review of all curriculum documents for elementary, including policies, curriculum guides, student handbooks


Student Wellbeing

• Wellbeing and pastoral care of elementary students, including day-to-day pastoral care and behaviour

• Follow and advocate for Stamford American School’s Be Well Charter, behaviour policies, processes and restorative practice

• Work closely with Behaviour Specialist, to support students with positive behaviour strategies

• In conjunction with High School and Middle School Wellbeing Coordinators, conduct parent information sessions and workshops on student wellbeing and positive parenting strategies

• Support teachers when an issue is needing to be escalated


Communication

• Liaise with parents and teachers regarding student wellbeing, including behaviour

• Be openly accessible for students, staff and parents

• Regularly update, inform and involve the Elementary Principal, when serious issues arise


Teaching

• Provide classroom release for elementary coordinators [middle leader, 0.4 FTE]


Position Requirements

• Experienced leader

• Curriculum expertise

• Wellbeing expertise

• Elementary School leadership or experience of enquiry-based learning approaches preferred.


Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent is required.

• Eligible for qualified teacher standard in Hong Kong

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Education

Working Conditions

• School Environment

• Working hours 7 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday

Terms of Employment

• Medical Benefits: Medical insurance provided where applicable

• Probation Period: 3 months from date of commencement

• Referee request: Required

• Background Check: Required

• Position held in alignment with current contract

• Arrive back at school for Induction one day before other returning staff to help assist new teachers in their orientation
